Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Telkom University has once again implemented a community service program focusing on strengthening the role of women in managing village enterprises and tourism. This activity took place in Tenjolaya Village, Pasirjambu District, Bandung Regency, which has been recognized as a potential tourist village since 2023.
Under the program titled “Empowering Women in the Development of Village Enterprises and Tourism,” the FEB Telkom University team, led by Dr. Rony Wardhana, S.E., M.Ak., along with team members Imas Maesyaroh and Khairunnisa, S.E., M.M., and a group of students, conducted a series of training sessions aimed at enhancing the capacities of the village tourism management and the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) administrators.
This initiative was motivated by the financial management challenges faced by Tenjolaya Village. Despite possessing natural resources, agricultural potential, and flagship products such as Kalua Jeruk and handicrafts, the development of village tourism has yet to reach its full potential due to limitations in budget preparation and simple financial reporting.
As a solution, the FEB Telkom University team provided workshops on village financial management, covering budget preparation, financial reporting, and guidance on utilizing financial data for decision-making. Moreover, the community was introduced to digital marketing strategies to support the promotion of local products and tourism. It is expected that these efforts will lead to improvements in marketing, operations, and human resource management, thereby enhancing the overall business processes.
This program aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Gender Equality (SDG 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9). The village government and Tenjolaya tourism administrators welcomed this initiative, hoping it would improve the professionalism of tourism management, expand market access for local products, and generate significant economic impact for the community. With full support from Telkom University, Tenjolaya Village is anticipated to become a community-based, self-reliant, and competitive tourism village, demonstrating the vital role of women in rural economic development.
