President Joko Widodo virtually opened the Kompas100 CEO Forum which was held on January 21, 2021, for the 11th time. With the theme “Let’s Collaborate: Rising in the Pandemic Era”, President Joko Widodo echoed optimism for all parties to move in the midst of the difficult situation due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and make 2021 a momentum to rise and move towards developed countries (KOMPAS, 22 January 2021, pp.1 and 15).
For this reason, during the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that Community Service (PkM) activities depart from the spirit of collaboration and innovation. It is undeniable, this pandemic condition has accelerated the form of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education within the Faculty of Economics and Business, Telkom University (FEB Tel-U) to enter a new phase of balance. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has made the academic community, both lecturers and students, challenged to immediately adapt to the new PkM model, namely with a hybrid concept based on online and offline.
Meanwhile, departing from the spirit of collaboration and innovation, the creative economy (Ekraf) is one of the sectors that the government is currently promoting, to rise up in 2021. The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) now has a Regional Regulation (Perda) on Creative Economy Arrangement and Development. With this regulation, the creative industry in the city of Bandung is expected to grow rapidly. Of course, this regional regulation on Creative Economy can be a guide in organizing and developing the creative economy. In addition, Regional Regulation number 1 of 2021, which was just passed on January 11, 2021, can be a motivation to further improve the sector, even though the situation is still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Therefore, it is important for the FEB Team to integrate PkM activities that contribute to the spirit of collaboration and innovation by raising the title. “Efforts to Improve Creative Economy Aspects Using Ecobrick Materials in RW-05 Kelurahan Cipaganti, Coblong District – Bandung City“.
Selected target community RW-05 Kel. Cipaganti, Coblong District, Bandung City is in the context of:
- PkM development in the context of Ecobrick in 2019;
- Continuing the positive response from the Vice Chancellor-2 Vice Chancellor II for Resources for Telkom University in order to fill the Tel-U Green Lounge;
- Sustainability programs to realize shared goals, namely “TO RW-05 WASTE FREE” and “TO THE VILLAGE OF RECYCLING TOURISM” or DarLing Tourism;
- Responding to Regional Regulations (Perda) on Creative Economy Arrangement and Development;
- Continuous efforts to collaborate and innovate to solve problems that also never stop.
It is also important to convey that the FEB PkM Team must be very careful in making decisions between offline and online activities in the 1st period of 2021. Therefore, this 2021 period-1 activity is adjusted to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, which is still uncertain. For this reason, the closest, safe and sustainable rational solution is in the form of continuous assistance for Cihampelas Mandiri Waste Bank customers with the health protocol “SIAGA COVID-19”.
The following is a form of implementing PkM activities for the 2021 period during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Partner participation in this PkM activity is as follows:
- form a WhatsApp group for easy communication;
- increase knowledge about the potential of Ecobricks that have economic value;
- participate in becoming a national-scale virtual exhibition participant;
- participate in webinars and virtual discussions;
- start self-study to improve literacy
This participation deserves to be understood as the management of education from the FEB PkM Team to the residents of RW-05 Cipaganti Village to be more able to answer the problems that exist in their environment. Thus, the long-term impact that has the potential to arise is community members who have a commitment to increase their capacity to become professional Creative Economy actors and have the ability to become Creative Economy ambassadors, in the Craft Sub sector.
