Training on Determination of Cost of Goods Sold for SMEs in Cimahi Region
This community service was carried out by the Community Service team which is part of the Finance and Accounting Studies Research Group, Faculty of Economics and Business, Telkom University, consisting of Dr. Leny Suzan, S.E., M.Si, CIFM as the chairman and two members, namely Dewa Putra Krishna Mahardika, M.Si. and Ali Riza Fahlevi S.E., Ak., M.Acc., C.A. This activity was held on November 16, 2022 in Cimahi, West Java, with the target community being Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Cimahi city area.
One of the obstacles faced by MSMEs related to production operations is determining the cost of goods produced (COGS), where COGS will be the basis for determining the selling price of products produced by MSMEs. Errors in determining COGS result in the selling price that will be set incorrectly.
With limited financial knowledge owned by MSMEs, the determination of COGS carried out by MSMEs only takes into account direct costs. This condition can be understood because direct costs are the costs attached to the product. Meanwhile, indirect costs are generally ignored or if they are taken into account, the allocation of indirect cost determination is not accurate.
With this condition, the community service team of Telkom University’s Faculty of Economics and Business (Financial and Accounting Studies expertise group) held an activity aimed at Cimahi area MSMEs. The activity focuses on how to determine COGS which will be used as the basis for determining the selling price of the product.
