The Impact of Social Media on the Mental Health of Karang Taruna Kertawangi
The community service program held on June 16, 2025, took place at PKBM Bina Terampil Mandiri in Kertawangi Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, chaired by Puspita Wulansari, SP., M.M., Ph.D, along with Willy Sri Yuliandhari, SE., MM., Ak., Ph.D, as members. This community service activity targeted the members of the Karang Taruna youth organization in Kertawangi Village.
This community service activity aims to educate Karang Taruna members and the youth of Kertawangi Village about the importance of using social media wisely. In today’s digital age, social media not only brings benefits, but also significant risks if not used carefully—one of which is its impact on mental health.
Through this activity, participants are equipped with a basic understanding of how to use social media in a healthy and responsible manner. This education is expected to help young people avoid social pressure, anxiety, and low self-esteem that often arise from excessive or inappropriate use of social media.
This activity was attended by 31 participants from among the youth of Kertawangi Village and received a very positive response. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from their active involvement throughout the session, demonstrating that this topic is relevant and needed by the community. With the implementation of this activity, it is hoped that a younger generation will emerge that is more digitally aware and has better mental resilience amid the rapid flow of information.
