[Pengabdian Masyarakat]
A community service event entitled “Simple Accounting Workshop: Introduction to the Accounting Cycle” was successfully held on Friday, March 8, 2022, at the Primasaga Sinergia Indonesia Office, Tera Street No.28. Unit 307, Tera Residence, Bandung, West Java. This event is part of the Community Service program that aims to provide a basic understanding of the accounting cycle to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
In this workshop, the participants, who are SMEs assisted by Primasaga Sinergia, totaled 31 SMEs engaged in various fields. They are invited to learn the basics of accounting in order to gain a solid understanding of the accounting cycle. The event was led by the community service team consisting of Khairunnisa, S.E., M.M. as the team leader, accompanied by Dr. Wiwin Aminah and Dr. Brady Rikumahu as team members. Additionally, two students joined the team as technical team members, providing the necessary technical support.
An introduction to basic accounting, especially the accounting cycle, was the main focus of this workshop. Participants are expected to gain enough knowledge to start recording financial transactions more systematically and accurately. This is expected to produce financial statements that are not only systematic, but also reliable. The financial statements produced by these SMEs are expected not only to be an information tool for stakeholders in evaluating the condition of the company, but also as a form of accountability to them.
The success of this event is expected to provide great benefits, not only for SMEs who take part in the workshop, but also for Community Service Implementation partners, Telkom University, and society as a whole. With a better understanding of accounting, SMEs are expected to improve their performance and competitiveness in the market, as well as become more resilient partners in the local business ecosystem. Hopefully, this event will be a good first step in strengthening the network and improving the overall economic capabilities of the community.
