Reaching a Digital Future: Digital Literacy Training

Reaching a Digital Future: Telkom University Lecturers Provide Digital Literacy Training at SMK YPPS Sumedang

SUMEDANG – In the unstoppable wave of the digital revolution, SMK YPPS Sumedang must prepare its students to stand at the forefront. Established on January 23, 1978, the school continues to grow in line with the development of information and communication technology (ICT). Recognizing the importance of preparing the younger generation for digital global challenges, SMK YPPS has implemented strategies to equip students with digital skills essential for the future.

With a strong background in vocational education, SMK YPPS Sumedang emphasizes the importance of its students’ soft skills, now coupled with basic technological knowledge. This is a strategic step in addressing unequal access to training in the latest technology. Students are trained to not only be workers in the digital era but also insightful entrepreneurs, with digital marketing skills to market their own products. This material was presented by Heppy Millanyani, PhD.

The community service activity held on November 30, 2023 became a concrete manifestation of Telkom University’s (Tel-U) commitment to digital education. Lecturers from Tel-U’s Faculty of Economics and Business taught relevant materials, including digital transformation in the tourism industry presented by Dr. Ir. Mohammad Riza Sutjipto, M.T. and the importance of a human-centered digital mindset presented by Dr. Ir. Rina Djunita Pasaribu, M. Sc., CPM.

The success of this activity can be seen from the enthusiasm shown by the students and the hope of the principal to continue this program in the next semester. SMK YPPS Sumedang hereby not only sets a new standard in vocational education, but also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Decent Work and Economic Growth. The program promises to lead students to become pioneers in managing technology for humanity, a vision that the world needs now and in the future.
