On October 17, 2022, Indonesia officially enacted Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (PDP Law). This regulation brings major changes to the business world, especially in the governance of personal data of Indonesia citizens.
The whitepaper titled “Personal Data Protection Law in Indonesia and Its Implications for Business” provides a detailed analysis of the impact of this new regulation. It also offers a range of strategies that companies can adopt to comply with applicable rules, as well as avoid legal risks and operational disruptions that may occur.
The Urgency of Complying with the PDP Law
One of the main highlights in this whitepaper is the risks that arise if companies do not comply with the PDP Law. In addition to the threat of sanctions in the form of fines and criminal penalties, violations of this law can damage the reputation and trust of customers. However, on the other hand, complying with these rules can also be an opportunity to strengthen the security of corporate data and increase public trust, thereby providing significant added value for businesses.
Challenges and Opportunities in Data Management
For companies, the biggest challenge in complying with the PDP Law is ensuring that personal data is managed properly and transparently. Companies are required to know clearly what kind of data they store, how it is processed, and where it is stored. This regulation encourages companies to strengthen internal controls in data management to minimize potential risks.
Technology Support for Compliance
The whitepaper also highlights the importance of technology’s role in helping companies comply with the PDP Law. An experienced technology solution provider can be a strategic partner to ensure that companies can implement data protection measures more efficiently and optimally. With the right technology support, companies can ensure that regulations are complied with, while protecting customers’ personal data to the maximum.
This whitepaper not only discusses the PDP Law from a theoretical perspective, but also provides practical guidance that can be directly applied by companies. Thus, this whitepaper is a very useful source of reference for business actors in Indonesia who want to understand more deeply about the impact of the Personal Data Protection Law and how they can adapt to this new regulation.
