Integrating Internal Control in Education: SMK YPPS Initiative in Developing Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship

In the midst of rapid economic growth, entrepreneurship education for the younger generation is very important and should not be ignored. SMK YPPS, which focuses on hospitality, culinary, and fashion design, recognizes this need and strives to integrate the concept of internal control in their educational curriculum. This step was taken not only to improve the quality of products produced by students, but also to prepare them for the challenges of the business world.

With an understanding of internal control, students are expected to manage assets and finances more effectively, both in the work environment and in independent businesses. Therefore, a community service program was conducted aimed at teachers at SMK YPPS. The program aims to increase teachers’ awareness and understanding of the importance of internal control and its application in the business world. This training not only provides theoretical knowledge, but also provides practical experience in the application of internal controls that are relevant to current industry needs. It is hoped that this training can assist teachers in teaching these concepts to students, so that they can apply them in real business practices. Internal control is a key element in good business management, especially in an era where the economy and industry are developing rapidly. These internal control principles are important in all sectors, whether MSMEs or large corporations, where financial transparency and accountability are paramount. With the understanding and application of internal control principles, SMK students not only learn to protect business assets, but also to make smart and responsible financial decisions.

This initiative not only positively impacts the school environment, but also makes a significant contribution to the economic development of the region. Students who are educated in financial literacy and internal control have great potential to become successful entrepreneurs or employees who are able to manage finances with efficiency.
