Sunday, June 22, 2025, was a meaningful day for the children at the Baitussalaam Orphanage and Poor House in Bandung. Three lecturers from the Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Telkom University — Ms. Erni Martini, Ms. Andrieta Shintia Dewi, and Ms. Tieka Trikartika Gustyana — were present to share their knowledge through a community service activity themed Financial Literacy Assistance for Children. This activity is not only a tangible manifestation of the implementation of the three pillars of higher education, but also a manifestation of academics’ concern for the importance of financial education from an early age. With a fun and easy-to-understand approach, lecturers guide children to learn basic concepts of money management, saving, and distinguishing between needs and wants—an important foundation for them to grow into a financially wise generation.
This activity was attended by eight participants from the children living in the orphanage, daily administrators, and the event committee. This activity, themed financial literacy assistance, was initiated from the need to understand financial management from an early age. This activity aims to improve financial literacy among children and teenagers at the Baitussalam Orphanage in Bandung through a series of training and education sessions.
This program provides insight into the basic concepts of financial management, financial planning strategies, and an introduction to various investment instruments such as savings, stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. In addition, this program will also discuss the importance of financial protection through insurance and how to manage financial risks. Through this training, participants are expected to understand how to manage income and expenses, save effectively, and consider investing as a strategy to achieve financial independence in the future.
