Determination of Cost of Goods Sold and Accounting Records in Business Units

Telkom University’s Faculty of Economics and Business held a community service activity with the theme “Penentuan Harga Pokok Penjualan dan Pencatatan Akuntansi Pada Unit Bisnis”. This activity was held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at YPPS Vocational High School (SMK) Sumedang Regency. The implementation of the activity began at 08.00 – 13.00 WIB followed by Class X students of culinary, fashion and hospitality study programs totaling 25 participants.

SMK YPPS Sumedang is a vocational school that has a laboratory space used by students practicing running a business. Students are equipped with practical business process skills in their chosen field. Every businessman should have expertise in managing business processes, especially being able to calculate the cost of products produced. This ability is not yet possessed by students. So it is necessary to provide training related to accounting, especially determining the cost of goods and recording accounting.

The material presented includes business processes, cost components and groupings, determining which cost group each activity belongs to and calculating the cost of goods. After obtaining the cost of goods, the expected selling price can be determined. The program features students working on pre-test and post-test, which aims to see students’ understanding of the material presented.

Students and trainees filled out questionnaires to obtain feedback on community service activities as well as to see other needs needed by SMK YPPS. The community service activity was closed with a group photo of the implementation team with all participants of SMK YPPS students.
