The Importance of a Bumdes Holding Company: Efforts to Improve the Welfare of the Tasikmalaya Regency Community

The management of village-owned enterprises (BUMDES) in Tasikmalaya Regency has received considerable attention in recent years for its potential to drive rural development and economic growth. BUMDES are unique entities that play an important role in empowering local communities by offering employment opportunities, infrastructure development and improving overall socio-economic welfare. Moreover, a lot of business products originate from these areas that need to be managed properly. However, despite their potential benefits, BUMDES often face challenges such as limited financial resources, lack of expertise, and inefficient management practices. Therefore, some parties associated with the management of BUMDES need a lot of help with the issues at hand.

In response to these challenges, several related parties, including KADIN Kab. Tasikmalaya and several interested parties felt the need to establish a holding company whose role is to bridge between business actors in each village and consumers. What is considered important about establishing a holding company is that it is a strategic approach to simplify operations, optimize resources, and improve the overall performance of BUMDES. By centralizing management functions, providing strategic guidance, and fostering collaboration among companies under its umbrella, the holding company can effectively meet the complex needs of BUMDES and maximize their potential for sustainable development and growth.

Therefore, lecturers of Business Administration and Management of Business Telecommunication Informatics (MBTI) from Telkom University in collaboration with Faculty Applied Communication Multimedia University, Malaysia collaborated with Kadin Tasikmalaya Regency and BUMDES managers to initiate the establishment of a holding company for BUMDES in Tasikmalaya Regency. This idea emerged from discussions and FGDs conducted on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Basically, this activity is a continuation of last year’s activity, where last year the lecturer team received a lot of input related to the constraints and expectations of BUMDES managers in the region. The management of this holding company is considered very important to be implemented, because this is one of the efforts to accelerate the improvement of community welfare in the Tasikmalaya Regency area.

Many things need to be prepared and carried out in the establishment of this holding company, including careful planning, approval from each village, formation of legal entities, preparation of articles of association, data collection and merging of business assets, as well as supervision and reporting. For this reason, cooperation from various parties is needed, where the university helps related to organizational management, especially the readiness of human resources. As the first step in the formation of this holding company, the parties involved are determined to continue to work together and race against time, so that the economy of the people of Tasikmalaya Regency can continue to improve and prosper (AVA).
